Stochastic Model to Find the Triiodothyronine Repletion in Infants during Cardiopulmonary Bypass for Congenital Heart Disease Using Normal Distribution

چکیده
Cardiopulmonary bypass suppresses circulating thyroid hormone levels. Although acute triiodothyronine repletion has been evaluated in adult patients after cardiopulmonary bypass, triiodothyronine pharmacokinetics and effects have not previously been studied in infants undergoing operations for congenital heart disease. We hypothesized that triiodothyronine deficiency in the developing heart after bypass may adversely affect cardiac function reserve postoperatively. From the system with Poisson input flows the generating function of the unique stationary queue length distribution, (i.e) in the / /1/∞ queueing system is used to find the effect triiodothyronine repletion in infants during cardiopulmonary bypass for congenital heart disease.

Non-thyroidal illness syndrome and cardiopulmonary bypass in children with congenital heart disease
Abstract Background: The thyroid hormones influence on all metabolic pathways. After heart surgery using cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), serum T3 decreases and remains low for at least 24 hours. Several studies on pediatric have reported reduction of thyroid hormones after heart surgery. This study aimed to investigate the status of thyroid function tests in children with CPB surgery. Metho...

This is a study of the use of T3 infusion in the postoperative period in 6 pediatric patients who underwent complex cardiac surgical procedures under cardiopulmonary bypass. Normalization of serum T3 levels was reflected in a marked decrease in requirement of inotropic support, conversion to normal sinus rhythm, and progressively improving clinical course.

trolled trial (98 treated vs. 95 placebo; <1 year old), which showed that T3 repletion appeared safe but did not have beneficial effects for the entire study population. In secondary analysis adjusted for age, a subgroup of infants younger than 5 months seemed to have some benefit (a shorter time to extubation and a lower inotrope score), while treatment showed some detrimental effect on the ca...
متن کاملThe effects of cardiopulmonary bypass and profound hypothermic circulatory arrest on anterior fontanel pressure in infants.
The Ladd transducer was used to measure anterior fontanel pressure in 23 infants undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass and profound hypothermic circulatory arrest for surgical correction of congenital heart disease. Mean (+/- SD) minimum oesophageal and rectal temperatures of 11.3 +/- 1.5 degrees C and 18.1 +/- 2.2 degrees C respectively were achieved with a mean duration of arrest of 53.4 +/- 13.9...
متن کاملCephalometric Measurements in Infants with Congenital Heart Disease Compared to Healthy Infants
Introduction: The lack of adequate blood perfusion through different organs of the body, including the brain and skull, can be caused by any type of circulation abnormality. The purpose of this study is to compare cephalometric indices between infants under the age of 12 months who have congenital heart disease (CHD) and normal infants. Materials and Methods: This case-control study was ca...
